I use a range of creative child friendly activities to help them feel relaxed and comfortable in sessions and more able to talk and express themselves.
Many children experience worries and stresses just like adults do. These anxious feelings maybe about everyday worries like friendships, self- confidence, family and loss, and sometimes their worries may be more complex with multiple aspects or more significant impact on their everyday life.
It is important that when children are struggling with their mental health, they get the support they need, when they need it. By providing this support children learn lifelong skills of healthy ways to respond to their emotions and relate to themselves and others.
Counselling can support children to grow an understanding of their own needs, how to express them and find coping strategies to support their mental health and wellbeing.
Anxiety can show up in many ways, impacting on sleep, behaviour, ability to engage in
things they normally would and possibly anxiety disorders such as OCD and eating disorders.
Some of the areas I am able to support with:
Understanding and navigating friendships
Exploring their feelings and thoughts around parental separation
Making sense of loss and grief
Understanding and expressing big emotions and feelings
Building self-esteem and confidence
Working through school worries
I understand seeing your child struggle can be a really frightening experience and finding the right counsellor for your child is vitally important.
Children’s counselling should always be tailored to their needs, interest, age and development. To support this, I use a range of creative child friendly activities to help them feel relaxed and comfortable in sessions and more able to talk and express themselves
With over 20 yrs of experience working with children you can be confident I have the skills and expertise to provide a safe, responsive, tailored session for your child.
